The Wikipedia App is the official app of the Wikipedia online encyclopedia for mobile internet devices developed by the Wikipedia Foundation. As of 2015, it works under operating systems: Android (distributed via Google Play ), BlackBerry (via BlackBerry World ), IOS (via App Store) and Windows 8 (via Microsoft Store ).
What does free encyclopedia mean?"Free Encyclopedia" does not necessarily refer to "Free Speech". A common definition of Free Content and Free Software is that it is "free as in free speech, not free beer". But yet again, this refers to the licensing of Wikipedia. Wikipedia respects Freedom of speech, but it is not a content policy.
Is Wikipedia's online encyclopedia fast becoming the best?Crovitz, L. Gordon. "Wikipedia's Old-Fashioned Revolution: The online encyclopedia is fast becoming the best." (Originally published in Wall Street Journal online – April 6, 2009.)
What is the difference between Wikipedia and traditional encyclopedias?Unlike traditional encyclopedias, Wikipedia follows the procrastination principle regarding the security of its content. It started almost entirely open—anyone could create articles, and any Wikipedia article could be edited by any reader, even those who did not have a Wikipedia account. Modifications to all articles would be published immediately.
