What effect does ADH have on the body?
ADH is a hormone stored in the posterior pituitary gland in the brain, regulating water levels in the body. ADH interacts with the kidneys to increase total body water increasing blood volume and blood pressure. The release of ADH is controlled by cells called osmoreceptors and baroreceptors.

What does increased amount of ADH lead to?
The primary effect of ADH is to limit the amount of water being lost in urine, by increasing the amount of water being reabsorbed into the blood. The ADH targets the cells of the tubules and collecting ducts, which causes an increase of permeability of the cell surfaces, where the water then leaves the renal tubules by means of osmosis.

The principal action of ADH is to regulate the amount of water excreted by the kidneys. As ADH (which is also known as vasopressin) causes direct water reabsorption from the kidney tubules, salts and wastes are concentrated in what will eventually be excreted as urine.
